Elections for 2011 - 2012 Board (Apr. 12, 11am, Rm. 240A)

posted Mar 28, 2011, 9:40 AM by Latino Law Student Association   [ updated Mar 28, 2011, 9:52 AM ]

Dear LLSA members,
The end of the school year is upon us, and with that comes the ritualistic passing of the baton to the next board who will make LLSA bigger and better. April is elections month and this year is no different. We will be holding elections on Tuesday, April 12, at 11am in room 240A.
Every person running for a position on the board will have the opportunity to say a few words before the general membership as to why they seek the position and what they hope to contribute - after which voting will commence and the new executive board announced.
Additionally, for those interested in running for a position, their description may be found under the Bylaws section on the LLSA Web site or on TWEN. Be aware that two positions not stated in the Bylaws, but which have nevertheless been an essential part of the board, are the two Juris Fiesta co-chair positions.
Please e-mail the president or vice president of your interest to run and which position(s) you are interested in, in descending order. The deadline for stating your interest will be five days before the meeting (April 5), after which a list will be e-mailed to all the members in preparation for voting. Members may also nominate (write in) another member for a particular position.
We are excited for this next year and look forward to the election of our next executive board.

MBHA Mentorship Reception

The Mentorship Reception marks the commencement of the Mentorship Program offered by the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association (MHBA).

By matching law students and attorneys by area of interest, the Mentorship Program provides students with the resources to succeed as law students and future attorneys in the Minnesota legal community.  First, the MHBA Mentorship Program provides students with the opportunity to learn more about the Latino/a legal community in Minnesota.  Second, the valuable relationships that are formed will help students in their present and future job searches.  Third, students are afforded the opportunity to have their resumes and writing samples reviewed by their mentors.  Lastly, students have the option of having mock interviews in preparation for job interviews.

The Mentorship Reception is going to be on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at William Mitchell College of Law, Conservatory. (875 Summit Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55105-3076). Please be sure to submit application forms no later than Oct. 25, 2010.

If you have any further questions about the MHBA Mentorship Program, please do not hesitate to contact Esteban at
